2'-O-Methyltransferase (2OM) is a methyltransferase encoded by the DNA of the bovine pox virus expressed in recombinant E.coli. It is a methyltransferase that further transforms the Cap0 cap structure into the Cap1 cap structure. This enzyme uses S-Adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a methyl donor and adds a methyl group at the 2'-O site of the first nucleotide adjacent to the cap structure (Cap0) at the 5' end of RNA to form mRNA with a Cap1 structure. It can further reduce the immunogenicity of mRNA itself and increase the expression level of the encoded protein after transfection.
